Core engineering and protocols for Ultra-Low-Power PQC for Implants.
Implantable medical devices rely on non-rechargeable primary lithium batteries designed to last 8 to 12 years inside the human body. Battery replacement requires surgical intervention. Traditional software PQC implementations consume significant energy during polynomial multiplication, which would drastically deplete implant battery longevity.
MedicalTPM incorporates a custom 28nm Fully Depleted Silicon-On-Insulator (FD-SOI) arithmetic accelerator operating near transistor threshold voltage. By executing the 256-point NTT in dedicated hardware in under 80 microseconds, total energy consumption per key exchange is reduced to less than 15 microjoules, preserving battery runtime.
